Our story

About CordLine

CordLine was created to strengthen the connections between missionaries, non-profits, and the supporters who make the mission possible.

Our mission

Help missionaries, non-profits, and the people who support them stay genuinely connected — so relationships stay strong and the work goes further.

Our vision

A world where no one who sends or supports a missionary ever feels out of the loop.

Why we built CordLine

We believe that strong relationships fuel lasting impact. Missionaries and non-profits have always found faithful ways to stay connected — printed newsletters, emails, texts, WhatsApp threads, social posts. Every one of them carries real love. But spread across so many places, even the most heartfelt updates can drift past the people they were written for.

CordLine brings it all together: a modern communication platform that helps missionaries and non-profits share updates the moment they happen, while giving supporters a deeper connection to the work they care about most. It's free for the people doing the work, safe for those who serve in hard places, and built to make staying connected feel effortless.

Chief Executive Officer & Cofounder

John Borland

John is the cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of CordLine. He has spent twenty-five years in software, most of them at Perceptyx, which he co-founded in 2003 and served for twenty-two years — the final seven as CEO — as it grew into a leading provider of employee insights.

CordLine came out of John’s own experience as a supporter. The missionaries his family follows share their lives in all the usual ways — newsletters, emails, texts, social media. John loved every update, and found himself wondering if there might be an even better way to gather and share them. That question became CordLine.

Faith is at the center of John’s life, and CordLine is one small way he hopes to serve the people who carry the mission forward.

John and his wife have five children. Outside of work, he’s happiest with his family, working with wood, on a run, or anywhere outdoors.

Chief Customer Officer & Cofounder

Seth Schreiner

Seth serves as Chief Customer Officer at CordLine, where he brings more than 30 years of leadership and relationship-building experience from the construction industry in Southern California.

Born and raised in San Diego, Seth grew up in a home where missionary support was a natural part of family life. His parents raised him and his three sisters with a deep love for missions, often opening their home to missionaries on furlough. As a child, Seth listened to stories from missionaries serving around the world and saw firsthand the importance of staying connected to the people and work being supported. Those experiences, along with many short-term mission trips throughout his youth, gave him a lasting passion for missions and ministry.

Professionally, Seth has spent more than three decades serving in a wide range of roles across the construction industry, including technician, project manager, service manager, operations manager, and director of sales. Across each role, one theme has remained constant: a love for serving people, building relationships, and helping teams succeed. Throughout his career, Seth often wondered what it would look like to use those skills in work more directly aligned with his faith and passion.

At CordLine, that opportunity has become reality. Seth is excited to help bring CordLine to life alongside a close friend of more than 20 years, helping missionaries and non-profits build stronger connections with the supporters who make their work possible.

Seth and his wife have four adult children and are now enjoying the growing blessing of being grandparents. Missions continues to be part of their family story, as their children have also served on short-term trips and in longer-term ministry opportunities, including service in Turkey and the UAE. Outside of work, Seth enjoys walks on the beach in La Jolla with his wife, mountain biking, photography, and pottery.
